Why I look under the old insulation first
Before I started this business in 2023, I spent years doing upkeep for a property management company, keeping rental houses and apartments in working order. That's how I ended up in a lot of attics and crawl spaces, sealing and insulating them, and I learned that a drafty house or a hot upstairs usually comes down to what's up over your ceiling.
I also saw plenty of attics where someone had blown insulation over a roof leak or a bad vent, and the owner ended up paying twice. So at Precision Norwalk Insulation Services we look hard at what's already in your attic before we add anything, and if something needs fixing first, I'll tell you. What you can expect when we work on your house
We check what's underneath first
Before we add anything, we look at the old insulation for water stains, droppings and buried eave vents, because fresh material over those problems only hides them. If the roof or a vent needs another trade first, I'll say so plainly.
The person who looks writes the estimate
I come out to your house myself and write the estimate, so you hear what I'd do, in what order and why. Our installers do the work, and I check in along the way.
We stop and tell you what we find
If we come across old wiring, what may be vermiculite, an older pebbly fill, or a gas appliance that needs checking, we stop and tell you before anything gets covered. You decide the next step with the facts in front of you.
Licensing and permits
State contractor license
California requires a current license from the state licensing board for anyone who contracts for work that needs a building permit, uses employees, or comes to $1,000 or more in labor and materials. Any job with a hired crew falls under that rule, and we're fully licensed and insured.
Permits and inspections
The rules on permits depend on where your house sits, so we check with the city or county office that covers your address. If your job needs a permit, we handle the application and the inspections.
